Hyderabad: Top players from across the country will be seen in action when the city hosts the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championship for men and women at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli from December 31 to January 5.
The event is being organised by the Telangana Kabaddi Association under the aegis of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India and Sports Authority of Telangana State. The six-day event will see around 1500 players in action with the likes of international players who represented India. Apart from 29 states, men and women teams from Services, Railways and BSNL will also compete in the tournament.
The Telangana Kabaddi Association will provide free boarding, lodging and transportation for the players and officials. The matches will be held on synthetic kabaddi mat on league–cum-knockout basis under flood lights. The knockout matches will be played on January 3, 4 and 5 which will be telecast live by Star Sports.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Sports and Youth Services T Padma Rao said that the State will give financial assistance to the event. He also added that the State government is committed to develop the sports in the State.
