India and Bangladesh will play a one-off Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad, starting February 9. On a November day in 2017, Bangladesh played their first ever Test at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The opponents were India. It was the first Test that Sourav Ganguly led India in while the Bangladesh skipper was Naimur Rahman Durjoy. There were reports that the trophy will be named after the two luminaries.Despite playing their first Test against India, a historic moment is in sight as this will be Bangladesh’s first ever Test on Indian soil. Hyderabad has been chosen as the venue.

“The Test was originally meant to start on a Wednesday. So we thought it would be better on all fronts if it starts on a Thursday and we could get crowds in for the Test,” a BCCI official said.
Earlier, there were speculations that due to lack of funds, the Test would be shifted to Eden Gardens, Kolkata but authorities confirmed that would not be the case.

The attractive right-hander has 386 runs at 42.88.
Zaheer Khan, who made his Test debut in Bangladesh’s first ever Test in 2000, leads the bowling charts with 31 scalps from 7 Tests at 24.25. The list is followed by fellow left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan, who has 18 wickets at 11.88 from only 2 Tests.
Bangladeshi batsmen showed great application in the Basin Reserve Test against New Zealand and in subcontinent conditions, their spinners have proved to be a potent threat. They famously beat England at home in the Mirpur Test in 2015.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-day warm-up game in their India tour ahead of a one-off Test match. The warm-up match will be played against India A from February 3 in Hyderabad, Espncricinfo said in a report. The Test, which was originally scheduled to begin on February 8, has been pushed back by one day, reports bdnews24.com. Keeping in mind an option to attract more crowds, the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] made the late change in schedule to hold the match from Thursday to Monday. The Bangladesh team, currently touring New Zealand, will return home on January 26.
