OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton women’s tennis coach Tom Lilly announced the addition of Gabriella O’Connor for the 2018-19 season, as the Cincinnati Ursuline Academy product signed a National Letter of Intent.
O’Connor is listed a three-star tennis athlete. Her Universal Tennis Rating is listed as 8.77. According to TennisRecruiting.net, O’Connor is rated No. 5 in the state of Ohio and No. 267 nationally.
“I’m excited to join Creighton University as a student-athlete, and I can’t wait to contribute to the women’s tennis team,” O’Connor said. “Thank you, Coach Lilly, for this tremendous opportunity.”
During her high school career, O’Connor has made three state tournament appearances in doubles play. She teamed with Nina Dhaliwal to finish runner-up in the Division I doubles bracket at the 2017 OHSAA Girl’s State Tennis Tournament (Oct. 20-21, 2017). As a sophomore, O’Connor paired with Jenny Duma and made the 2015 Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Girl’s All-State Tennis Division I First Team after placing fourth at the state tournament. She finished 1-1 during the 2016 state tournament.
“We are very excited to welcome Gabriella to our tennis family at Creighton,” Lilly said. “She is a great person, first and foremost, and has a great game. She is an aggressive player and will contribute as a freshman in a big way.”
